When Dean finally awoke, Crowley was gone and Castiel and Sam were in his room. He saw the worried looks on their face. “What’s going on?” Dean asked.

“You died,” Sam told him.

“Then why am I still alive?” Dean asked and then frowned. “You didn’t...”

Sam got the drift. “No, I didn’t,” Sam replied. “I didn’t sell my soul.” He wasn’t ever going to mention he would have to save his brother.

“Dean, you’re a Knight of Hell,” Castiel told him.

“Cas!” Sam scolded.

“He needs to be told,” Castiel told Sam.

“He needed to be eased into it,” Sam said.

“I died,” Dean said slowly as the words Castiel and Sam said to him and between them. “The side effects?”

“Apparently,” Sam said.

“Dean, how could you be so stupid?” Castiel asked.

“Cas!” Sam said again.

“We were only trying to rid ourselves of Abbadon,” Dean said.

“We didn’t do anything,” Castiel said. “You did something without consulting either of us and with Crowley no less.”

“I’d have talked it over with both of you,” Dean stated, “if you hadn’t needed to be with Sam, Cas.”

“Don’t you dare blame this on us,” Castiel told him. “I’d have told you what happens when someone is a Knight of Hell, Dean.”

“So how do I stop being a Knight of Hell?” Dean asked.

“We haven’t figured that out,” Sam replied. “We’re hoping that Cain can fix this.”

“Speaking of Cain and one of Heaven’s most respected angels, Gadreel,” Castiel replied.

“Gadreel is a respected angel?” Dean asked incredulously.

“He sacrificed himself to bring our brothers and sisters together. Respected,” Castiel repeated. “Gadreel is Cain’s real father.”

“A Knight of Hell who is half angel,” Dean said. “I now believe I’ve heard of everything.”

“Not unless Cain can fix this,” Sam said. “Then we’ve had heard of everything.”

No need to say that I'm surprised and really liked it! Gadreel as Cain's father? I couldn't see that coming!
Amazing, Jenn. Thank you so much!
