Clint Barton leaned against the building where Natasha Romanoff was in. He wore glasses to help him stay hidden from the Hydra agents who were still free roaming around, but he had to see her.
When the woman in question walked out of the double doors, Barton didn’t think; he just grabbed her, and knowing her, he countered her next move and found her in his arms. He returned the hug.
Romanoff hit his shoulder. “Where the hell have you been?” she asked.
“Europe with a couple of Hydra agents,” Barton replied. “when you and Rogers decided to blow everyone’s cover.”
“It was necessary,” Romanoff told him.
“I know,” Barton told her. “Any sign of the Winter Soldier?”
“Also known as James Buchanan Barnes,” Romanoff replied. “Bucky to his friends.”
When Barton’s eyes bulged, she hadn’t known she was holding her breath and knew in that instant, that moment, he wasn’t Hydra. “Rogers’s best friend?”
Romanoff nodded. “Confirmed facial recognition,” she stated. “Not that I didn’t trust Rogers’s word.”
“I would’ve either,” Barton answered. “What do we do now?”
“Survive,” Romanoff told him.
